New to the Airwaves – Albums Out This Week (May 19th)

What’s New This Week

Happy Music Friday! My personal calendar is a conglomerate of near every genre of music, festival, and comedy special that a decade ago I would not have dreamed would be my life. This release list is twinning.

To wrap up this week, we’ve got some much-anticipated arrivals that have us tapping our toes, crossing our arms, and screeching, “Finally!” We’re sure you can see which ones we think you should grab and which ones we think may deserve a pass (cough). Dive in at your own risk, and let’s hear your picks!

First, we like to share this weekly new playlist:

What amazing artist on the roster of new music this week. The amount of talent is in this weeks release set is amazing. This weeks stand out singles are: Lewis Capaldi’s “Haven’t You Ever Been in Love Before,” a beautiful lyrically laced ballad to lost lovers alike. Conan Gray’s “Never Ending Song,” a dreamy synth pop banger for the summer vibes needed during this concert season. Post Malone’s “Mourning,” another summer dreaming song about all the party goers life. Lana Del Rey’s “Say Yes to Heaven,” ends the playlist on a sinful note of her silky vocals and day dreaming again about love this time with the surprising happy ending.

Album Review of the Week:

“The Worst I’ve Ever Been” starts the album off with a fucking bang. That teeter-totter creepy type sound that I love about music by The Used is still present as ever and Bert’s throaty scream that follows the opening guitar part grabs me and sucks me right in.

“Don’t ask me for no fucking favors, I’m not anybody’s goddamn savior”

Bert’s perfect sweet whine is music to my ears, literally. His vocals are a flawless fusion of singing and heavy metal screaming. The bass line intertwines like a soul finding its mate with the guitar on this track while the drums marry the two. Like I said, I’m obsessed.

The beginning of track 4, “Pinky Swear,” immediately has me feeling nostalgic, very The Taste of Ink type jams. The guitar riffs and composition of the song are very reminiscent of that album for me with a little bit of a hostile twist. Right up my alley because that album has a special place in my heart.
