New to the Airwaves – Albums Out This Week (June 9th)

What’s New This Week

Happy Music Friday! My personal calendar is a conglomerate of near every genre of music, festival, and comedy special that a decade ago I would not have dreamed would be my life. This release list is twinning.

To wrap up this week, we’ve got some much-anticipated arrivals that have us tapping our toes, crossing our arms, and screeching, “Finally!” We’re sure you can see which ones we think you should grab and which ones we think may deserve a pass (cough). Dive in at your own risk, and let’s hear your picks!

First, we like to share this weekly new playlist:

What amazing artist on the roster of new music this week. The amount of talent is in this weeks release set is like candy to a musichead. This weeks stand out singles are: Renee Rapp’s “Snow Angel,” an anthemic rock song with haunting vocals and a message or self revaluation and heart felt cries. Sarah Kinsley’s “Black Horse,” invigorating and fresh. Noah Kahan’s “Dial Drunk,” the new age Dave Matthews Band, his plucky playing and distinctive vocals shimmer in this song, will be added to our always listen playlist. Shawn Mendes “Say Yes to Heaven,” another love song banger with raw emotion and those lyrics that shred the heart. Lastly this week we have new music from office fave, Yungblud‘s “Lowlife,” another summer indicative of the Gorillaz banger “Crazy,” the hook is the hook of all hooks. I can already hear the full arena screaming this at the top of their lungs. What a cool single, check it out.

“It doesn’t cut like it used, to”

DEBBIE GIBSON GETS HER GROOVE ON IN 70’S THEMED VIDEO “LOVE DON’T CARE”
Today, Debbie Gibson releases her 70’s inspired video for fan favorite track “Love Don’t Care” off her 10th studio album ‘The Body Remembers.’ While embodying a pure disco renaissance, the video has a powerful message of love being a soul connection and not caring about color, gender, age, or sexuality.

“I feel there’s been a modern disco resurgence thanks to artists like Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa and Lizzo,” said Debbie. “This video pays homáge to 70’s queens like Cher and Donna Summer and the era of the Variety Show. I went full tilt with a younger man as a love interest and all because… Hey, it was the 70’s!” says Ms. Gibson with a wink and a smile.

Rolling Stone stated: ““Love Don’t Care” is a dance banger from her 2021 comeback album, The Body Remembers, with a wide-open inclusive spirit….It’s also proof that Debbie’s electric youth is timeless.”
Directed by Nick Spanos and Debbie herself, the video is a 70’s extravaganza, showcasing retro yet modern choreography, fabulous costumes, groovy effects, and special appearances from model Rachel Pizzolato, OG “Roller Boogie” star Jimmy Van Patten, actor Charlie Gillespie, Elliott with 2 T’s of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and OG “Electric Youth” iconic dancer Kevin Stea.
Recently, Debbie was interviewed by CBS for their Morning Mixtape series, where she took the viewers into her Las Vegas home. She discussed highlight moments of her career, played on her bedazzled piano (once owned by Liberace), and gave a super special BTS look at the making of the “Love Don’t Care” video.

In 2021, Gibson released her long-awaited 10th studio album ‘The Body Remembers’ – her first pop record in 20 years, marking a new chapter for Gibson on her own label Stargirl Records. It is filled with a mix of modern pop hooks and upbeat club bangers along with melodic “newstalgic” tracks that pay homage to her earlier music. ‘The Body Remembers’ represents all things Debbie: empowerment, living your best life, and staying #EternallyElectric. Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone gave the album a rave review and stated that “Gibson paved the way for today’s young female chart-toppers, from Billie Eilish to Olivia Rodrigo.” Debbie’s pop masterpiece “The Body Remembers is proof that “Electric Youth Never Dies.”
