Kevin Baldes of Lit Talks Touring and ‘Tastes Like Gold’

New Album Out June 17th, Tour Kicks off Friday, May 13th in Columbia, SC

The time was the late nineties and the grunge era and the Seattle sound were beginning to wane in popularity. New bands were coming along, creatively blending the best of punk rock, metal, and grunge into styles of their own. We were at the dawn of a new millennium literally and musically and it was clear that the new era was going to be “Lit.”

With their 1997 debut album Tripping the Light Fantastic, Lit burst onto the scene and began making their presence known to the masses. Two years later, with their follow-up album A Place In The Sun, the band would rocket to the top with top-notch songs that contained the best of heavy rock along with powerful pop melodies and choruses that you could sing along to. Fueled by the success of singles “My Own Worst Enemy” and “Miserable,” Lit became a musical powerhouse. Who here hasn’t had a few drinks with friends, all singing together “It’s no surprise to me, I am my own worst enemy/’Cause every now and then, I kick the living shit out of me.”

Fast forward over twenty years and Lit is on the cusp of a new era, releasing their first new music since 2017. Their latest album Tastes Like Gold will be released June 17th via Round Hill Records and I have to say the title is apropos because the new record is one of the best Lit has ever done. Their classic 90s sound is still there but with a fresh, modern edge on new singles “Mouth Shut” and “Kicked off the Plane.” In support of the new record, Lit will be hitting the road for a string of US tour dates. The tour kicks off tomorrow, Friday, May 13th in Columbia, South Carolina at Savage Craft Ale Works and runs through early September with more dates hopefully in the works.
