Teddy Swims Gives Musical Therapy In Philadelphia

Teddy Swims I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Tour

Teddy Swims has become a musical powerhouse. The “Lose Control” singer returned with his latest critically acclaimed album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Part 2, back in January, and now he’s brought the album to life with a spectacular live show. The Tour hit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on a chilly spring night in Fairmount Park, but Swims warmed the crowd with his soulful performance.

Teddy Swims turned The Mann Center for the Performing Arts, which was an upgraded venue from the originally announced date due to high ticket demand, and if I’m being honest, he probably could have sold two more nights out. The show is a collage of soul, heartbreak, and celebration, like a good therapy session. Swims’ performance takes the crowd on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. One that you can’t help but walk out of the show impacted.

Teddy delivers a setlist that spans multiple genres and emotional depths. The Atlanta native shows exactly why his live shows are more than just concerts, they’re a deep and personal look into his journey, not only as an artist but as a human. From the very first notes of  “Not Your Man”, as Swims appears atop a platform high above the stage, spotlight lit, Teddy commanded the stage with his charm and raw vocal power. From then on the crowd was locked on Teddy and the  24 song set that delivered a wide range of the material from the Grammy nominated artist I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Parts 1 & 2 as well as some incredible covers like “You’re Still The One” which is his incredibly popular Shania Twain Cover and ILLENIUM’s “All That Really Matter’s”.

Fan Favorites like “Hammer to the Heart” and “Bad Dreams” set the tone, showcasing both his band’s musicianship and Teddy’s effortless ability to switch between vulnerability and full-blown soul. By the time he breaks out the catchy “Funeral”, the packed Philadelphia crowd had already fully immersed themselves into every note. Swims also made the night extra special as He brought out Devin Velez for the beautifully touching duet of “Are You Even Real”, going toe to toe with verses and harmonies that electrified the Mann Center atmosphere.

Another special moment of the evening was when vocalist Jemila Richardson joined him for the honest and vulnerable track “Black & White”, and the chemistry between the two singers set the stage ablaze. The night’s biggest moment hands down was during the three-song encore when Olivia Kuper Harris joined Teddy on stage for “Bed on Fire”, a crowd pleaser no doubt, and show show-stopping performance in every sense.

Teddy’s show did a great job of balancing a great mix of big moments during the hits with more slowed-down in tune, and introspective moments for the deeper cuts. Songs like “What More Can I Say” hit the audience especially hard, with the crowd often just taking in the more personal moments through the set, you can almost feel the exchange of gratitude between the Crowd and Swim’s. Almost as if the audience was respecting each song’s meaning and emotion.

Then there were the fun and more upbeat celebratory moments. “Your Kind of Crazy,”  where Swims rises on the stage on a toilet bowl, and of course the chart-topping track “Lose Control” had the entire crowd dancing and on their feet, screaming every lyric back as Teddy walked amongst the crowd high high-fiving and shaking hands. It’s one thing to hear Teddy Swims on the radio, or listen to his album, it’s an absolute privilege to see him work in a live setting, both Swim’s, his band and the production behind the scenes creates an immense spectacle that electrifies the senses and hits heartstrings concert goer’s may not even realize they have.

Teddy Swims live is a 10 out of 10, a show worth every penny, and an artist you’ll leave wanting to support over and over again. We highly recommend this show as a can’t-miss performance, and there is no doubt that Teddy Swims will be here for a long time!!!
