Grammy-nominated Guitarist Tab Benoit Headlines Neighborhood Theatre Saturday, April 5th

If you’re unfamiliar with the legendary Louisiana Bayou guitarist Tab Benoit, get prepared to be blown away. Tab has been wowing audiences around the country since 1992 and hasn’t slowed down since. Benoit is not only a master of the Blues guitar, paying homage to all the Blues greats that have come before him, but he also possesses the ability to electrify a live room, bringing his unique version of the Delta Blues right into 2025.

To say that a Tab Benoit show is hot is an understatement. The last time I caught his live show, I was actively looking for holes in the roof of the Neighborhood Theatre with my camera zoom lens because there is no doubt that he blew the roof straight off the venue. This Saturday, April 5, Neighborhood Theatre will once again host this amazing talent as Tab rolls into town on the I Hear Thunder Tour in support of his latest album, released last summer.

This is a show you won’t want to miss! Be sure and get there early to catch Sam Morrow kicking things off.

“Benoit is at the top of his game with I Hear Thunder. It delivers the big tone he’s known for as Tab walks the razor’s edge in a set that deals with heartbreak and joy” – CHICAGO BLUES GUIDE

(Charlotte NC) – AcclaimedGrammy-nominatedLouisiana Bayou guitarist Tab Benoit continues his ambitious, coast-to-coast “I Hear Thunder” 2025 Tour, with a local performance in Charlotte at Neighborhood Theatre, 511 E. 36th St., Saturday, April 5. Show: 8:00pm. Tickets start at $39.52. Info: (704) 942-7997 or visit https://neighborhoodtheatre.com/. Opening for Benoit on this leg of the tour: Sam Morrow, whose version of modern-day American roots music mixed with  roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy R&B, and country-fried funky-tonk has been winning him fans far and near.

I Hear Thunder was released last August on Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records label. The award-winning musician’s first new album in thirteen years soared to #1 on the influential Billboard Blues Album Chart last September. To complement the release, the I Hear Thunder Tour has criss-crossed the country, an unforgettable experience reigniting the soul of roots music, while proving artists like Benoit only get better with time.

“Ain’t no rhythm like a Bayou Stomp” sings Benoit on “The Ghost of Gatemouth Brown,” and he proves it on this, his first studio album in thirteen years,” writes Rock & Blues Muse. “It’s all displayed throughout these sizzling ten tracks that capture Benoit at his most, well, thunderous.”

Benoit’s journey began in 1992 with a radio hit from his debut record *Nice and Warm*. Since then, he has received multiple Blues Music Awards and four Grammy nominations. Beyond the music, Benoit is celebrated for his years of activism, particularly concerning the Louisiana Wetlands and coastal erosion. He seamlessly intertwines his artistic brilliance with a profound commitment to environmental advocacy, ensuring his legacy extends beyond the stage into the heart of the land that inspires his bluesy soul. Benoit does more than play the blues; he defines its future while paying homage to its rich past.

What The Media Is Saying About Tab Benoit and “I Hear Thunder”

“With his first studio album in 13 years, Tab Benoit gives us ten solid, driving tracks like only he can produce. Benoit takes us back down to the bayou in “Watching the Gators Roll” where he regales in watching the alligators do their thing. It’s a romping and fun piece, and, of course, features more fine guitar.”

                                          BLUES BLAST

I Hear Thunder reaffirms Tab Benoit as a powerful voice in the blues rock genre while expressing his passion for Louisana’s wetlands. This album combines Benoit’s prowess as a blues rock singer/songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire with his writing partners Anders Osborne and George Porter Jr. The result is an album that’s a testament to Benoit’s enduring talent by showcasing a collection of tracks that are steeped in the rich cultural and environmental history of his beloved Bayou.”

                                     BLUES ROCK REVIEW

“Thirteen years is a long time, however, this gestation period for Tab Benoit’s newest studio album, I Hear Thunder, was worth the wait. Loveliest song is “Still Gray” in which Tab’s soft Louisiana inflection caresses this soulful tune while adding guitar parts that will make you stand still and just listen when you first hear it.”

                                       SOUTHLAND BLUES

“On I Hear Thunder, Benoit delivers everything with strong yet supple and never overbearing intensity in both his distinctive vocals and guitar heavy approach. The recording has a crisp live in the studio sound making it feel like you’re on the Bayou, watching it all go down.”

                                     ROCK & BLUES MUSE

I Hear Thunder was released via Benoit’s imprint, Whiskey Bayou Records, formed in 2017 with Tab’s partner and manager, Rueben Williams. Since its inception, the label has released albums by established artists such as Eric McFadden, Damon Fowler, Eric Johanson, Jeff McCarty, and Dash Rip Rock. Tab also proudly features his touring band on the record, with bassist Corey Duplechin and drummer Terence Higgins solidifying the powerhouse lineup.
