American Aquarium Rocked the Neighborhood Theatre

The wrap on “The Fear of Standing Still Tour”

American Aquarium ends their “The Fear of Standing Still Tour” in the state where it all started. Leading off a great night was opener, Justin Wells.

When Justin Wells hits the stage, you feel it. The singer-songwriter—signed to August Music—steps up to the mic and instantly casts a spell with that soul-soaked voice of his. This time, he’s armed with songs from his brand-new album, Cynthiana, a heartfelt love letter to his wife and a deeply personal look into the moments that shaped him.

It’s 2025, and Wells isn’t just performing—he’s storytelling. Every lyric is a page from his life, every melody a memory. And when he launches into “Queen of Queens,” the crowd leans in. He doesn’t just sing about love—he lives it in real time. It’s not the polished, picture-perfect kind, but the honest, messy, magical kind that doesn’t always make sense… and doesn’t need to.

With Cynthiana, Wells reminds us that love isn’t a statue on a pedestal—it’s a wild, beautiful story we write every day.

American Aquarium brought the house down as they wrapped up The Fear of Standing Still Tour with an unforgettable final show—right where it all began, in North Carolina.

Formed in 2005 by frontman and songwriter BJ Barham, the band’s roots run deep in the Tar Heel State. Barham, who studied political science and history at N.C. State University, first realized in Raleigh that you don’t have to be big to play music that matters.

That same raw, real energy echoed through every chord and lyric onstage as the band returned to their beginnings to close out a powerful chapter.

Performing in a nearly packed two-story theater, American Aquarium gave it everything—and their fans gave it right back. The crowd sang along, cheered loud, and resonated deeply with the emotionally charged songs that have become Barham’s signature. From heartbreak to hope, every track captured a moment in time that hit home in a different way for everyone listening.
