Three New Artists That Are Breaking Boundaries Going Into 2022

Back in November of 2021, we stopped by Union Stage in Washington, DC to be introduced to some incredible new artists that you’ll certainly be hearing more from in 2022. Read a little bit about each artist below and check out the photo gallery at the end for a visual recap of the evening.

Addison Grace (they/he)

This Utah-based singer/songwriter has grabbed the hearts of millions (3.8 million to be exact) ever since posting their covers of popular songs in addition to originals for the internet to hear and fall in love with. Songs that explore self-love and identification, much like that heard in “Honeysuckle.”

Even with their debut single “Sugar Rush” they discovered how being vulnerable and sharing your own stories allows for so many others to relate to your own experiences. It explains their attraction to a girl who only saw her as a friend, and goes on to explore their fear of being outcasted for their sexuality.

Beyond music, Addison is also very active on social media and they stream on Twitch playing games and even reading books to create bedtime stories for their fans.

Kid Sistr (she/her)

Kid Sistr is Sabel (guitarist), Sara Keden (bassist), and Rebecca Webster (drummer), an all-women, New-York-born indie trio. If you’re ready to rock out and be inspired by the power and force of three incredible women, this is the group for you. Their bio describes them perfectly when they say they blend “1980s new wave, the unabashed amplitude of 2000s alternative rock, and the meticulous construction of the singer-songwriter style.”

Their debut self-titled EP dropped in July of 2020 and is quickly garnering traction as they found themselves soon after on tour with Willow Smith then in fall of 2021 joining Chloe Moriondo on tour for a few stops.

Make sure to check out some of their music including “Dallas” and the ever-popular “Little Sister Song.”

Chloe Moriondo (she/they/he)

Chloe Moriondo has been on the music scene since releasing their debut album Rabbit Hearted in the summer of 2018. But, her musical journey truly began much like many other teenagers these days by going viral online, beginning with Youtube in 2014. This spring, Moriondo shared their critically acclaimed major-label debut album Blood Bunny, which The New York Times crowned as a “Critic’s Pick.” Their music navigates personal feelings and perceptions while packaged in a pop song that occasionally reaches into the rock spectrum, all while showcasing their songwriting skills.

The arrival of Blood Bunny was accompanied by an official video for the track “Bodybag,” which The FADER named as one of the “20 Best Rock Songs Right Now.” Following the release, Moriondo made their television debut performing “Bodybag” on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!.

Their personality is just so warm and welcoming as on stage she takes time to show love to her fans and maintains a positive yet whimsical aura, showing they are truly grateful for the support of their music. They just wrapped up the U.S. leg of their tour and will be heading to the UK, Ireland, and Germany early next year. Want a few songs to add to your library? In addition to Bodybag, check out “GIRL ON TV.” “Samantha,” and “Strawberry Blonde” to get a sense of the musical abilities of an artist that will surely be heard more in 2022 and beyond.
