MAX Introduces DC’s 9:30 Club to the Live in Colour Tour

Date: November 18th, 2021

Venue: 9:30 Club

Washington, DC

What’s up, everyone! Derek here, a.k.a. The Photographic Ginger and I’m back again with another incredible night of music in our nation’s capital. This wasn’t just any ol’ night of music though. It was about to be one filled with energy and dancing, all presented in colour. Chances are if you’ve turned on the radio in the last two to three years you’ve probably heard the song “Lights Down Low” but although it’s his biggest hit it’s just a small glimpse into the musical power of the multi-platinum showman that is Max Schneider a.k.a. MAX.

In celebration of his latest album Colour Vision that dropped in September of 2020, MAX packed up the cube featured on the cover and set out on a short tour throughout November. With just six stops on the tour, DC and the 9:30 Club were waiting with open arms.

As the room filled and the lights dropped, the fans yelled at the top of their lungs in excitement at the title track from the album began to play and MAX appeared atop the cube as lights illuminated him and the crowd, quickly filling our eyes with a spectrum of color. Then the energy kicked into high gear as the sounds of “Love Me Less” began and MAX amped up the crowd along with his bandmates, one of those people being Ryan Siegel who also acts as half of the funk duo known as Party Pupils, the other half being MAX which led into a fun moment of them performing their version of Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson.”

Throughout the entire show, MAX and the band are known to bring the party and they certainly didn’t disappoint. MAX constantly matched and then one-upped the energy of the crowd as he constantly danced around the stage and threw in the occasional cartwheel or toe touch much as he did during “Basement Party” and the debut of a brand new song titled “Wasabi,” which is going to have you dancing along too once it releases. Another fun moment in the night was during the performance of “Blueberry Eyes” which normally features SUGA from BTS but on this night it was fan and friend Andy that filled those shoes as he sang the Korean lyrics within the song as he and MAX both bounced across the stage.

From the powerful vocals found in “10 Victoria’s Secret Models” to the band all switching instruments during “Satisfied,” it was truly a night of pure happiness fueled by music. Even when the room lit up through the power of cell phones during “Light Down Low,” the connection to music and the power it has never felt stronger. Before the night came to an end, an encore was in store and it’s only fitting that you go absolutely wild and jump around to the energy-filling sounds of “Mug Shot.”
