easy life Introduce DC’s Union Stage to their Debut Album

Date: April 9th, 2022

Venue: Union Stage

Washington, DC

What’s up everyone, it’s Derek here! I’m back again with another night of music in Washington, DC. On this evening in particular we hung out with one of England’s hottest indie-pop alternative groups easy life

After forming in England in 2017,  easy life has been quickly making their way into music lovers’ hearts and playlists. Shortly after releasing their debut album life’s a beach in May 202, they made their American television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!  and they’ve actually just released a brand new single titled “Beeswax.”

For fans here in DC, this had been a long night coming. After the impact of the pandemic, the band finally made their way to DC for the very first time, over two years since they were originally scheduled to perform here and the crowd knew it would be worth the wait. As they prepared to kick off their set, the lights went down and the sounds of an airplane and its British flight attendant took over the speakers before the lights sizzled on and the show began.

They opened their set with one of their earliest releases with “pockets” and instantly fans were deeply connected as they yelled and danced in excitement. Following that, we took a dive into their latest album with the song “have a great day” which brings with it catchy hooks and a solid beach vibe.

As the night went on, the band continued to be blown away that a room full of people 4000 miles away from home knew the words to their songs. Songs like “daydreams” that keep the evening going or “homesickness” that created a full dance party.

Shortly after the crowd erupted with excitement as “sangria” began to play and although Arlo Parks wasn’t there to sing her part the fans gladly filled in. Before the night came to an end, they kept giving us some of their biggest and best hits with “skeletons” and one of my personal favorites with “ocean view,” which of course continued the sing-alongs all before ending with “nightmares.”

Shortly after they left the stage, the crowd went wild chanting for an encore as is typical with many shows. But this UK band didn’t expect the amount of love DC had to give so even though they didn’t have an encore formally planned they returned to the stage, polled the audience on what song they wanted to hear again, and soon we were on round two of the “sangria” vibe.
