Daughtry Brings The Dearly Beloved Tour To Fillmore Silver Spring

Date: March 3rd, 2022

Venue: The Fillmore Silver Spring

Silver Spring, MD

What’s up, everyone! Derek here, a.k.a. The Photographic Ginger and I’m back again with another incredible night of music in our nation’s capital. From his rise to stardom on American Idol to his ongoing musical career that continues to create arena rock anthems as a result of his iconic voice, Chris Daughtry has been a continuous artist in my music library throughout the years. So when it was announced that he and the band were going on tour, I had no hesitation blocking out my calendar for the talent that is… Daughtry

Getting the night started was a musician who is quickly making her own space in the rock world. LYELL broke into the public just a year ago via social media and from there she’s gone on to now be playing live shows and being invited out to open up this tour.

From the moment she stepped on stage and all the way through her set, she proved she’s a name to keep on your radar. Her latest singles “Potions” and “I’m Somebody Else” are expected to appear on her EP later this year. From her stripped-down Nirvana cover to her originals, she’s a name you’ll want to make sure is part of your music library going forward.

Next up was Florida’s heavy metal rock group, Tremonti. Fronted by guitarist and lead vocalist Mark Tremonti, the band also consists of guitarist Eric Friedman, drummer Ryan Bennett, and Tanner Keegan on bass. They opened their set with “Thrown Further,” a song off their latest album Marching in Time that was released back in September of 2021 followed by “If Not for You” from that same album.

Later in their set, diehard fans were excited to hear a song that had not been played live in years. In fact, it had been so long since they had played “New Way Out,” they had to bust out the lyrics to remind themselves and the fans absolutely loved it. It was also that older album from 2012 that would help them close out their set with “Wish You Well.”

The time had then finally come. The stage was set with elevated platforms and even a bullhorn in anticipation for the band/man of the night to take the stage. As the tour is named after and in celebration of their latest album Dearly Beloved it was only fitting to kick off the night with the opening track which is “Desperation.” With a leather jacket and a popped collar along with an iconic electric guitar. it was obvious the night was about to be epic. Following were two of their latest singles off the album with “World On Fire,” which activated that bullhorn we saw on stage as Daughtry sang into it, amplified by the microphone, and the latest single to hit radio “Changes Are Coming.”

Shortly after, it was time for an audience sing-along as the classic that is “No Surprise” began. In keeping the audience participation going, a synchronized clap was activated across the crowd to accompany the title track from the album “Dearly Beloved.” Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the night though came along with one of my favorite songs off the album.

As the sounds of “Evil” began, a red light pulsated throughout the venue and Daughtry’s vocals truly shined in moments like these as the song activated true powerhouse vocals throughout the chorus, all ending with a guitar solo from guitarist Josh Steely.

What followed was another stand-out moment from the night as Daughtry requested the lights be turned off and everyone bring out their phones and light them up as it was time for the “one song everyone knows.” As Chris stood center stage illuminated by only the flashlights of phones, he began his acoustic version of “Home.” This led beautifully into the next song “Cry for Help” as the screen behind him shared the message of “Be Love” as Chris stood alone in a single spotlight illuminated from behind.

Before the night came to a close more hits songs as well as new were presented to the fans, including “Lioness”, “September,” and “Over You” before closing it all out with the song “Asylum.” This latest album has brought Daughtry back into the rock charts and it’s easy to see why as they create an incredible night to remember. It’s a show you’ll want to make sure to catch if you have the chance. With stops continuing across the US through March before moving over to the UK later this summer, make sure to get your tickets now.
