Bryce Vine’s Miss You A Little Tour Hits DC

Date: January 25th, 2022

Venue: The Fillmore Silver Spring

Silver Spring, MD

What’s up, everyone! Derek here, a.k.a. The Photographic Ginger and I’m back again with another incredible night of music in our nation’s capital. If you’ve been rocking with us for a while, you’re probably familiar with the featured artist in this article. I’ve been covering Bryce Vine’s shows since 2017 and as I predicted back then he’s an artist who continues to grow and put out amazing music with hit after hit. 2021 brought a year of collaborations as he’s been flawlessly blending genres while making every track he touches a true masterpiece. In addition to those collaborations, we also were gifted a few singles from Vine, one of those being “Miss You a Little (feat. lovelytheband)” which also happens to be the sentiment of missing live crowds which then became the name of his most recent tour.

As with every tour though, there are always openers and Bryce has a history of choosing some of the best musicians to open as they are often ones that you don’t want to miss out on and this tour was no exception. Opening this show, in particular, was SAINT LYOR and Gianni & Kyle.

SAINT LYOR hails from the unsuspecting town of Brockton, MA. From the moment he hit the stage and the beat dropped, he was throwing bars at us that immediately grabbed the attention of everyone in the room. One of those that need to be in your music library asap is “Finsta.” His musical style mixed with his lyrical ability creates memorable songs that consistently bring the vibes. Don’t believe me? Check out his latest album If My Sins Could Talk and see for yourself. We also gotta give him props as this was his first tour, and I’m sure it won’t be his last.

Up next it was time for a hometown show featuring Gianni & Kyle, the pop/rap duo from right here in Annapolis, Maryland. They’ve been hitting the music scene pretty hard over the last few years as their fan base begins to grow and grow. I had the pleasure of catching a show of theirs at DC’s Union Stage back in February of 2020. I still remember how energetic that show was from the stage to the crowd and the energy level and performances have only increased since then.

From the top of their set, they hit us with “5 Shots” which immediately got the crowd hyped up before moving into one of their latest releases with “SOS.” Also, if you ever come to a show of theirs and you’re asking yourself which one is Gianni and which is Kyle, don’t worry they occasionally travel with signs to clear up any confusion. Before ending their set they gave us a cover of the emotional early 2000s hit… “Stacy’s Mom” which proved that the love for Stacy’s mother still runs deep throughout many hearts. Finally, they threw another hit of their own at us with the crowd favorite of “do you even miss me at all?

Finally, the time had come for the man of the hour to take the stage and crank the energy to unprecedented levels. As the lights dropped and the crowd yelled, the sounds of “Glamorama” transitioned us into the party setting and world of Bryce Vine. After the years we’ve had, Vine is a fresh breath as he creates a show that’s truly energetic and engaging as he high fives and shakes hands with fans at the barricade mid-performance. 2016s “Glamorama” to 2021s “Blame It On Me” proves that no matter the tempo or beat, Bryce Vine’s voice, and lyrical ability always shines brightest through his songs.

As the evening continued, we got some more of his recent releases including “Empty Bottles” which features friend and fellow musician Mod Sun. In fact, the acoustic version of the song just dropped a couple of weeks back. From there we took a journey through songs new and old, some of which included “Bang Bang,” “The Fall,”, and “Fireside,” all creating different moments for the crowd to sing and dance along. Perhaps some of the standout moments were found within “I’m Not Alright” and “Sunflower Seeds” as one created an EDM environment and got the room jumping while “Sunflower Seeds” found Vine surfing across the crowd on an inflatable flamingo. Shoutout to the crowd for catching him and surfing him back to the stage even when he got flipped off of the inflatable.

It’s not truly a Bryce Vine show though if the energy doesn’t blast through the roof during the encore and this show saw the crowd go all in as they sang along to “Drew Barrymore” and the classic song of Vine’s “Sour Patch Kids.”

I never hesitate to block out the day on my calendar when I learn that Vine is coming to town and you shouldn’t either. Take this moment to see when he’s coming to a city near you and make sure to follow him on social media to stay up to date. Trust me, you’re gonna want to hear some of the new music he has coming out and you don’t want to miss it when it drops.
