Bring Me The Horizon Kick Off First U.S Arena Tour In NYC

The Post Human Tour Hit’s Brooklyn’s Barclay Center

Very few rock and metal acts crossover from other countries into the U.S with success even fewer come to America and headline their own arena tours. Well look no further than England’s Bring Me The Horizon who has successfully now done both!

BMTH 21-1

The former Deathcore outfit turned rockers have dominated albums and tours in the states for quite sometime now and with the release of 2020’s POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR and 2022’s new single “Strangers” single the band continues to raise their fandom level in the United States tenfold.

BMTH 48-1

This leads us to now, Saturday night September 24th Bring Me The Horizon kicked off their Post Human Tour joined by Knocked Loose, Grandson, and Siickbrain in Brooklyn, NY’s Barclays Center, a show that marked the band’s first U.S headline arena show! Fans packed the nearly sold out arena as the band released a small number of floor tickets that day but Barclay’s was mobbed with BMTH fans leaving lines stretching around the venue.

BMTH 37-1

Last time we caught Bring Me The Horizon was 2019 in New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom and again in Philadelphia’s The Met both incredibly impressive and fun shows which led me to believe this arena show would be nothing short of spectacular.

BMTH 7-1

As the band took the stage with what equated to an entire stage made of screens, even the platforms, the entire stage became a visual platform. The band’s intro kicked off with a video message from a female character prepping the audience for their audio visual experience. The set kicked off with “Can You Feel My Heart” from 2013’s Sempiternal with the screens flashing a massive heart in the background.

BMTH 34-1

Chaotic lighting fills the stage as images flash behind and the band’s vocalist Oli Sykes jumps up and down. BMTH transitions right into “Happy Song” as the band takes a moment to take in the sight of a packed NYC arena in front of their eyes. Nothing but gratitude the entire night was expressed by Sykes.

BMTH 30-1

The guy’s then kick into 2020’s ”Teardrops” and “Parasite Eve” from the Post Human album before introducing the latest single “Strangers” with Oli telling the crowd “New York we all feel a little bit like Strangers. Let’s change that”. The Barclay’s crowd agreed and exchanged loud cheers of approval.

BMTH 17-1

The show is heavily filled with material from POST HUMAN, That’s The Spirit and Sempiternal with both the latest singles sprinkled in. There is no songs from the earlier albums Suicide Season, There Is A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It or Count Your Blessing’s so no deathcore melody like in 2019 rather the band choses to look forward to the future and enjoy it’s present which honestly had zero affect on the show to the fans in attendance who were hooked and active the entire set.

BMTH 13-1

There were also very genuine and heartfelt moments during the show as well, before “Die4U” Oli addressed the NY crowd by saying “New York you know what I learned from the Pandemic? You saved my life many times and for that I would die for you”. Right after that the band played a song that wasn’t originally on the setlist after a fan on Twitter requested they play “Sleepwalking” The band acknowledged they haven’t played it in a while and to go easy on them.

BMTH 15-1

The band ended the set with “Drown” before returning to the stage for a 3 song encore of “Obey”, an acoustic version of “Follow You” which led to the entire arena being illuminated by cell phone lights and lighters. Finally the band ended the night with the fan favorite “Throne” as they walked off stage with a standing ovation.

BMTH 42-1

Overall this new Bring Me The Horizon tour is a killer one, for opening night there were very minimal hiccups, the band sounds incredible tight and high energy through the entire evening and even though they shy away from their early Deathcore days.

BMTH 32-1

Bring Me The Horizon certainly don’t struggle when it comes to bringing some heaviness, Oli even lets out some screams and gutturals a bit throughout the show. It was a great experience seeing the guys bring their live show to an arena and I certainly think there will be many more arena shows in their future here in America.
