Twenty-One Pilots’ Breach Tour Is a Cinematic Farewell to Dema—and a Celebration of Their Unbreakable Bond with Fans
Twenty One Pilots have never been just a band. Since their formation in Columbus, Ohio in 2009, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have built a universe—one filled with cryptic lore, emotional catharsis, and genre-defying soundscapes. With the release of Breach, their eighth studio album and the final chapter in the Dema saga, the duo has reached a creative crescendo. The Clancy Tour: Breach 2025 isn’t just a concert—it’s a narrative climax, a communal ritual, and a love letter to the “Clique,” their fiercely loyal fanbase.
Signed to Fueled by Ramen, Twenty One Pilots have mastered the art of blending introspection with spectacle, and this tour proves they’re still “trying to find my peace while I’m at war” (“Overcompensate”). With the new album that just dropped last month, we were in for a spectacle and jamming good time.
Opening Act: Dayglow’s Indie-Pop Spark
Before the main event, Dayglow—the moniker of indie-pop artist Sloan Struble—set the tone with a breezy, infectious set that had the crowd swaying and singing along. With hits like “Can I Call You Tonight?” and “Hot Rod,” Dayglow’s synth-laced optimism was the perfect appetizer for the emotional rollercoaster to come. His relaxed charisma and tight band chemistry made the 30-minute set feel like a backyard jam session with 15,000 friends. The Stage: A Living, Breathing Extension of the Story
When the lights dropped and the sampled vocals of “Overcompensate” echoed through the amphitheater, the crowd erupted. Pyrotechnics flared, and Tyler Joseph emerged like a prophet of chaos, flanked by Josh Dun’s thunderous drums. The stage was a marvel—massive LED screens pulsed with visuals from the Dema universe, while a burning Cadillac Deville on the B-stage added cinematic flair. During “Lane Boy,” gas-masked figures sprayed steam into the crowd, turning the pit into a dystopian dance floor. “I’m in control,” Joseph sang, and it felt like he truly was.
Crowd Connection: The Clique in Full Voice
From the first note of the 28 long setlist, the audience was more than spectators—they were participants. Fans screamed every lyric, especially newer tracks like “The Contract” and “RAWFEAR,” proving Breach had already embedded itself in their hearts. “I’m not disrespectful, I’m just skeptical,” echoed through the venue during “Doubt,” while “Tear In My Heart” became a sing-off between the “Josh side” and “Tyler side” of the crowd.
Joseph’s crowd work was masterful—he held the camera to his face during “The Contract,” making every fan feel seen. The filming was going on live. The dream light fuzz when they were filming was a cool aspect. Sometimes Tyler would have a spot on his chest that was black that would grow and then you would all of a sudden see Josh lean in, big grin while he was beating the hell out of the drums. The production is absolutely outlandish with it being two men, a drum, a bass, and some amazing showmanship. The banter between the two is epic as well, the fun joke was that Josh had hand crochet his shirt for the night, which is plausible. Sure. Crowd was filmed many times strewn across the big screen. Costumes, Flashlights, and Rituals
The Clique came dressed for the occasion—skeleton suits from Vessel, yellow tape from Trench, and homemade outfits inspired by Clancy. During “The Line,” thousands of phone flashlights lit up the night like stars. At one point, Joseph painted his hands black during “Message Man,” lifting them slowly to reveal the ritualistic gesture that sent fans into a frenzy. It wasn’t just music—it was mythology. Before the show all the mobile merch buses were also giving out duct tape to adorn yourself with it. If you aren’t in the clique by the end of the night you were. You could not help getting entrenched in the absolute madness of the whole thing.
Setlist Surprises and Emotional Arcs
The setlist was a genre buffet: the punky “Next Semester,” the industrial “Heavydirtysoul,” the folk-tinged “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV,” and the trap-infused “Garbage.” Each song was a mood swing, a sonic shift, a new chapter. Joseph collapsed theatrically after “Heavydirtysoul,” only to rise again for the ukulele-driven intimacy of “Chicago.” “She’s collecting dust in my studio now,” he joked, before launching into a heartfelt rendition.
The show was set up with three parts, the main stage, in the crowd impromptu performances, and B stage which was toward the lawn part of the venue. Josh and Tyler one by one walked from stage to stage while fist bumping the crowd. You knew to follow as a large single bright stage light followed them. On stage B was a large car first and a sacrificial bowl to symbolize the painting of himself he dips his hands in before each song. When they did start off with “The Message Man,” the crowd lost their minds. The camera angles and edits in real time were very fun.
As “Lane Boy” pulsed through the venue, the entire crowd crouched low, a sea of anticipation holding its breath. Gentle, floating notes drifted overhead as we were quietly shushed — a collective hush before the storm.
Then, with perfect timing, Tyler launched into the air with massive hang time, and the venue erupted. Fog lights burst, fireworks lit the sky, and fan screams filled the air in a euphoric explosion of sound and light. It was pure catharsis — a moment of musical transcendence.
What’s Next for Twenty-One Pilots?
With Breach closing the book on Dema, fans are left wondering: what’s next? While the duo hasn’t announced a new concept yet, they’ve hinted at more music and possibly a documentary chronicling the Clancy era. For now, the tour continues to blaze across North America.
