Roots Picnic 2024 Preview
Roots Picnic returns for the summer of 2024, bringing Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Gunna, and many more to the city of Philadelphia!
As we find ourselves knocking on the door of summer 2024; the city of Philadelphia prepares to host the 15th annual ‘Roots Picnic’ presented by the Roots & Live Nation Urban! Held at the festival’s longtime home, ‘The Mann’ in Fairmount Park, The Roots Picnic boasts a GRAMMY Award-winning lineup of culturally defining hip-hop & R&B.
Taking Place on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd, this year’s lineup sees performances from notable artists/musicians including Gunna, Victoria Monét, Nas, J Period, Sexy Red, Smino, Wale, Backyard Band, and Philadelphia’s own Jill Scott! Headlining this year’s show will be the multi-platinum rapper from New Orleans, Lil Wayne!

Joining Lil Wayne in bringing the “New Orleans” experience to Philly are keyboardist PJ Morton & trombonist Trombone Shorty, who is set to accompany Wayne’s set with The Roots. This marks the first headliner at Roots Picnic for Wayne, and his first time returning to the festival since the summer of 2017.
Looking to continue the hype from last year’s lineup which featured Ms. Lauren Hill, Dave Chappelle, and Lil Uzi Vert; Live Nation is making sure to keep the fire hot as audiences brace for a show of epic proportions! Roots Picnic proves why it’s become one of the best hip-hop festivals in America. Since its formation in 2007 by The Roots and Shawn Gee, the picnic has been a perfect representation of the urban community, hip-hop culture, and musical talent.
