In the Flesh – Aries Returns Spiraling, Snapping Back, and Saying It With His Chest

The wait is finally over

Aries just dropped “In the Flesh”, the first single from his upcoming third album. Not only are we blessed with audio, but it’s paired with an exciting, moody music video. The track delivers the raw intensity people were hoping he’d come back with. 

The song is short, barely scraping two minutes, but it doesn’t waste a second. It’s all emotion, no polish. You can hear the unraveling. It’s obsessive, frustrated, and borderline resentful in a way that feels personal.

The video opens with a raw rap verse, increasing the audio length a good bit. The intro, I suspect, is likely a snippet from “Crack In The Glass”, rumored to be another title on the album. It’s gritty and loaded with grief, burnout, and regret. Aries sounds like he’s on the edge, holding it together just long enough to get the words out. It’s messy, honest, and fragile. Just like the glass he keeps praying won’t shatter.

Lyrically

The hook does most of the heavy lifting here. 

“Where do I gotta go to get you out of my head”

It’s not subtle. It’s giving heartbreak and mental exhaustion. 

In the first verse, Aries turns the blame inward

“Fabricate a whole life just to be yours. Stupid”

He’s over it. Over himself. Over pretending it was ever mutual. No metaphors here, just disgust. 

Then the second verse shows him trying to reclaim some control:

“The brown boy never been this fine”

“What can’t kill me ain’t worth my time”

Still hurting, but draping it with flexes. He’s dragging himself out with what’s left of his ego.

Sonically

The production is volatile in a way that feels intentional. It’s stripped down and unpredictable with a warped lo-fi texture that mirrors the headspace he’s in. Nothing sits still. It’s deliberately raw. 

Imagery

Masked figures are bolting through a foggy night fallen wood scene. The masks in question are oversized, donning over exaggerated features and spiral eyes. Aries is present too, of course. He’s looking fit as ever, sporting a black tank top with some sort of leather harness. His hands, gripping a geological hammer, are partially covered by tattered fingerless gloves. He breaks a mirror and sweeps away the glass. Later in the video, he’s surrounded by the masked figures as they dance around him. I’m getting a “Walking Dead” vibe from a scene where Aries is beating a piñata resembling the masked face. I’m seeing a specific scene though, and I mean the infamous “Negan with a bat” scene. There’s resentment exuding from him as he swings at the piñata. 

Context

This release is already pulling attention. Fans are glad to see Aries stepping away from the cleaner, pop leaning vibe of ‘Believe In Me, Who Believes In You’ and revisiting his rap roots. The darker tone feels new for him but it’s fitting. The fanbase is picking up on worldbuilding already and saying this album’s aesthetic seems to carry a “dark aura.”

Still, not everyone’s sold. Some think the single is too short. Some are calling it chaotic, but I think that’s kind of the point. The track feels like it’s over before it really starts because that’s how these kinds of thoughts hit: suddenly and all at once. 

Final Thoughts

“In the Flesh” is Aries cut to the core. No filler. No fake clarity. Just obsession, ego, and emotional whiplash. It’s not meant to resolve anything. It sticks in your chest like something unresolved. The video is haunting and guttural, I can’t stop watching it. 

I’ve been following Aries for a long time. This track caught me off guard, but it was a bold move that paid off. It feels like a reset and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to see where he goes from here.
