Forrest Frank Lights Up Charlotte

Child of God Tour Stops at Bojangle’s Coliseum

It was a “Good Day” in Charlotte last week when Contemporary Christian artist Forrest Frank came to town. The Child of God Tour stopped at Bojangle’s Coliseum for a fantastic evening of music and worship.

Forrest Frank has really made a splash in the Christian music scene in recent years. His latest album, Child of God, is nominated for a Grammy, and his single “Good Day” has already won a GMA Dove Award. In fact, his list of accomplishments keeps growing, and for lucky Charlotte fans, he brought his live tour to town, bringing his music to life in many ways.

Fun Fact: He is the grandson of meteorologist Neil Frank.

The evening got started with some Worship Music courtesy of Elevation Rhythm to get the crowd singing along early on. Hands were lifted in praise and worship as the young musicians gave a solid performance.

During the short intermission, volunteers walked through the coliseum, handing out information on sponsoring a child while someone gave a personal account of their own experiences of the sponsorship process.

Fun Fact: Frank graduated from Baylor University with a business degree.

Afterward, it was time for Forrest Frank to hit the stage, and the crowd was pumped up for sure. The fans in the general admission pit held signs and wore their concert tee-shirts as they waited for Forrest to finally make an appearance. A countdown calendar appeared on the LED screen at the rear of the stage as everyone shouted 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

When the lights dimmed, the stage was revealed with a green geometric shape that allowed Forrest and his band to be well above the audience, giving everyone in the venue a great view. Smoke rose from the stage floor as Forrest appeared in the center, flanked on each side by his band members, and the show was on.

Fun Fact: His album “Child of God” debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts.

This was my first time catching Forrest Frank live, and I was very impressed from the start. Frank kicked things off singing and moving all across the stage, interacting with the fans up front.

The show was a mix of everything with flashing lights, plumes of smoke, and plenty of excitement. Fans experienced the gamut from fun tunes like “Up!” that made you get up and move as the kids (and quite a few adults) were jumping around and more poignant moments where Forrest took a seat behind his keyboard.

Fun Fact: Frank was a member of the pop duo Surfaces, which gained significant mainstream success before he transitioned to his solo Christian music journey.

All aspects of this concert were top-notch, and I think all in attendance would agree. The tour continues until mid-May, so there’s still time for you to catch a show. Bring the whole family out and have a “Good Day” with Forrest Frank!
