Exclusive Artist Interview: Scott Tournet
Guitarist and Singer-Songwriter Talks Rock & Roll Stories
An interesting life makes for fantastic stories and in the case of guitarist and singer-songwriter Scott Tournet, it makes for spectacular music. Growing up in rural Vermont without electricity and attending a clothing-optional college, Scott made his way across the country armed only with a tent and a guitar. His adventures would lead him to co-found Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and playing with the Allman Brothers and Robert Plant as well as performing for President Obama.
Tournet left the band when they were at the top of their game and went on to explore other things. The years that followed would see him taking a break from rock and starting the world music ensemble Elektric Voodoo, writing and producing three albums, touring the country, and starting a family. In 2021, Scott made the decision to move back east and finally the time was right to dive head first back into the world of rock and roll. The result of his efforts is the brilliant new album Rock & Roll Stories, a fabulous collection of guitar-driven rock that is a showcase for the many talents of Tournet.
Scott is currently out on tour in support of the new record with his band The Spark and will be headlining the Neighborhood Theatre tomorrow night in Charlotte. Shutter 16 had the opportunity to chat with Scott and get his insights on the making of Rock & Roll Stories. You can listen to the full interview below.
