Walk The Moon Heats up New York

Walk The Moon Heats up New York

By: Drew Kambeitz

The snowy and icy roads of NY didn’t keep these fans from supporting Walk The Moon, as they wait in line in subzero temperatures. Best known for their top radios hits, “Shut up and Dance” and “Different Colors,” these guys attracted quite the crowd from all over the North East. A stroll through the parking lot found a ton of license plates from New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and even Maine.

When I got inside the venue, I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity in age, from as young as 14 all the way up to people in their 50’s.

Joining Walk the Moon for this tour is a recently reunited band from Chicago Illinois called Company of Thieves. As they took the stage, the crowd started roaring in excitement and front woman Genevieve Schatz kicked off the show with an incredible burst of energy and movement

The bass started to rumble in the darkness as Walk The Moon took the stage and Nicholas Patricca began to sing the song for which the tour is named, “Press Restart.”

The crowd could not contain their excitement and started to go wild.

The familiar tune of “Portugal” followed shortly after, featuring the 80’s themed keyboard and synthesizer that band is well known for.

Eli Maiman, the lead guitarist, started to play that oh-so-famous tune, it’s “Shut Up and Dance,” and if you weren’t moving before, you were now because the entire crowd started to dance along to their favorite song.

Finally the band closed out their set with a two-song encore, including their summer hit for two years in a row, “Anna Sun.” Walk The Moon gave them a show that was out of this world!
