Vans Warped Tour Announces it’s Final Line-Up

Vans Warped Tour 2018 Lineup Announced
When Vans Warped Tour announced 2018 would be the tour’s final cross country run, it shook the music community and line up rumors began to swirl. Now the official line up has been released and everybody can start planning their summer accordingly.
About:
Warped Tour is the largest traveling music festival in the United States and longest running festival in North America. The festival began in 1995 thanks to festival founder Kevin Lyman; it began as a vision for an eclectic alternative rock festival which focused on punk rock. Over the years the tour has grown to new heights by expanding into showcasing acts from a multitude of genres. Vans Warped Tour has showcased acts in metal, hip hop, pop, punk, alternative, and more. Additionally it’s spotlighted multiple emerging acts whose careers still flourish to this day. The tour is known best for discovering new artists, and highlighting nonprofits and companies looking to make a positive impact on the world.
Over the tour’s past two decades, it has built a reputation for being the summer’s must-attend festival for music lovers of all kinds. Since Warped Tour began in 1995 it has been a platform for established and upcoming acts alike. The festivals past performers include Blink 182, No Doubt, Sublime, Katy Perry, NOFX, Limp Bizkit, Green Day, Yellowcard and Eminem just to name a few.
Vans Warped Tour, presented by Journeys, is also known for hosting a wide array of amazing non-profits and educational workshops. In 2018 the tour will launch The Preventum initiative, focused on youth and adolescent opioid prevention. Other organizations which include Teens With a Purpose, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Donate Life New England, Planned Parenthood, Keep A Breast, Testicular Cancer Foundation, To Write Love On Her Arms and Project HEAL will all be involved with the 2018 festival outing.
Predictions:
Before the announcement many eager fans had some outrageous and modest guesses:
My seasoned guess is large bands that have went down in Warped Tour history will be popping up in random cities, each one has 3 dates to dazzle the crowd and then on to the next headliner. A concert photographer can dream!
Announcement is now live!
Who are we excited for?
Silverstein the band is back and picking up pace like they never took a break. Seeing them back at it on Warped Tour is definitely a highlight for us and their fans. The band released Dead Reflection last summer and this summer finds them on the Mutant Red Dawn stage to rock Warped one last time from 7/17-7/20 and then again from 7/25-7/28. These guys are definitely on our must see list if they’re hitting your city.
Underoath are fresh off announcing their new album Erase Me which is due out on April 6th. We’re beyond stoked to see these guys play Warped Tour one last time. Although we’re disappointed they’re only playing 7/16-7/18. Expect new material and a ton of energy from the band, as their fans should be out supporting them in full force at those dates.
Asking Alexandria are fresh off a new album and with the return of frontman Danny Worsnop. This will be the band’s first Warped Tour with the original line-up in quite a few years. We are beyond happy that AA will be apart of closing out a few dates on the festival’s final run and we expect the usual chaos and shenanigans from the Sumerian Records heavy hitters! Catch them live on Warped from 7/22-7/28.
August Burns Red: having just covered these guys a few weeks ago (*cough* I mean decade ago), this was beyond the right choice to have the guys on select dates of the 2018 run. Though we wish they were apart of the full tour because the band means so much to metalcore. It’s great having them on the final tour even if just a short time as it cements their legacy even more. Look for a killer high energy, fast paced, and memorable performance.
The Amity Affliction are well deserving of the full tour slot. Warped helped make careers for bands like TAA. These guys never disappoint; the fact that they join the full tour is a testament to how far they’ve come. Plus any opportunity to see these guy’s in the states is huge. Do not miss these guys, we promise if you do you’ll regret it!
Motionless in White: These guys grew up on Warped Tour and arguably blew up because of Kevin Lyman. In a true testament to respect and legacy, MIW will grace the Warped stage one last time. The band will be on every date of the tour which should make for a huge fan attraction.
Simple Plan are easily one of the most bittersweet of the line-up announcement, one of the many notable Warped bands of the past will return for the outing in 2018. These guys are no strangers to the hustle of tour and they’re pretty much Veterans at this point. We’re definitely looking forward to catching these guys on VWT one last time.
Surprised these bands were not on the bill:
Attila, New Found Glory, Gwar, Ballyhoo, Memphis Mayfire, SensesFail, We Came As Romans, Chunk! No Captain, Chunk!, Pierce the Veil, Blink 182, The Word Alive, A Day To Remember and Green Day. But don’t lose hope yet. The tour promises “special guest” to be announced, so you never know what surprises are ahead!
One Last Good-bye:
As this chapter in festival history comes to an end, we will be bringing you ongoing coverage and wrap up our favorite festival in a tiny bow for all you fellow music lovers to enjoy. Until then, see you at Warped and in the PIT!
