Artists Statement

My images are meant to provoke some sort of emotion or to inspire a second glance at something that would otherwise be overlooked. I find beauty where others see unsightliness and ruin. I like to capture life, whether it is life that is taking place or the remnants of a life that may otherwise be forgotten. I want to capture a moment in time, which reflects the past and will be present in the future to skew the timeline of life that encompasses us all. I like to capture beauty in an unconventional sense, and present it in a way that others can appreciate.

Biography

Spencer Huffman, born in 1979 is an artist residing in Bethlehem, North Carolina. Since he was young he has always enjoyed creating art. The whole process of taking a vision in his head and making it a tangible reality has always fascinated him. It began back in school with sketching out various characters and fantasy scenes with graphite and colored pencils. He has since graduated to using photography to communicate his creative vision. His ever present love for antiquity and fascination with the history of the lives led before him is often reflected in his work.

He likes to see his work evolve as he evolves himself. There is a constant progression and he enjoys trying new things and learning as much as he can about the creative process. The world around him and the feelings he is experiencing at the time dictate the inspiration behind his art, and the creative minds that he comes in to contact with influence the direction he takes
