Songs To Rock Your Fourth of July Celebration

Nothing is more American than fireworks, hotdogs, and cold beer, all the things that scream out HappyFourth of July. There’s only one item missing that makes the list complete.  Of course, I’m talking about good old-fashioned American rock and roll. There are certain songs that simply take you back in time to the good old days of your youth, the many happy memories created over outdoor barbeques, outings to the beach, and all those kick-ass fireworks shows.  This year though, things are a bit different. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many Americans are forgoing these annual traditions and instead plan on partaking in lowkey celebrations at home.  Staying at home doesn’t have to mean missing out. So while you’re busy grilling up some meats or enjoying that ice-cold brew by the pool, pop on some of my favorite rock songs to get you in the Independence Day mood. They may not all be patriotic in nature, but they are all guaranteed to make for a killer playlist for this weekend’s festivities.

Elton John “Philadelphia Freedom”

Grand Funk Railroad “We’re An American Band”

Don McLean “American Pie”

Night Ranger “(You Can Still) Rock In America”

Neil Young “Rockin’ In The Free World”

John Mellencamp “Pink Houses”

Bruce Springsteen “Born In The U.S.A.”

Tom Petty “American Girl”

Lynyrd Skynyrd “Red White & Blue”

Creedence Clearwater Revival “Fortunate Son”

Jimi Hendrix “Star Spangled Banner”
