Shutter 16 – A Year in Review

It’s about that time of year where another comes to an end. We get to reflect on all the badass music we were part of, through new artists, new tours, and our #legendsseries, to the intense selections of our Reverb campaign. We hope at the very least you found out some cool information on your favorite artists and you found at least ONE new artist to enjoy, support, and love. Thank you to all of our supporters, haters, and to all the bands, management, promotions specialist, venues, and other artists we have worked with this year. Here is to an amazing 2018!

January

Breaking_Ben_15Photo by Luke Jamroz

Guess we should start off with who got us excited last year, right? Who got us excited in 2016? is the article to kick back what went down in ’16, and remember what a great year it was for music! And who could forget that awful snow storm that imprisoned the east coast? Our EIC and Prez did what they do best and made a playist for the dang thing… Check out #Snowmahgawd 2017 because according to our local news stations, we’ve got another storm a-brewin for January.

February

Bon Jovi - Bon Secours Wellness Arena - 2.8.17 --0969Photo of Jon Bon Jovi by Benjamin Robinson

February was a super cool month for a few different reasons, including that historic moment when the Carolina’s own Michael Tracy answered the call…from Jon Bon Jovi! Shortly after that, the Grammy’s took over the airwaves and Dianna and Sheila came together on the good, the bad, the ugly, and the outrageous Grammy event! Hello, it’s the Grammy’s 2017

March

UA_ATL_1Underoath photo by Luke Jamroz

March was all about the festival lineup announcements, and the arguments that ensued as a result. Lollapalooza the aftermath – 2017 lineup announcement came first, then Carolina Rebellion: The Must-Sees, and though we didn’t report on the… uh… “conversations” that came with the territory, there was a plethora of excited comments and angry dislikes that flew across our desks. Nevertheless, #Summer2k17 was incredible thanks to these festivals!

It was, hands down, the best show she went to in 2017, and no, that joke will NEVER get old. We also covered a TON of major names, like Miranda Lambert, Green Day, GWAR, Chance the Rapper, Brad Paisley, and so much more. 2017 was a big year for S16 and we’re just getting started!
