Preview: Rock Allegiance Returns To Keep The Festival Party Going Into Fall 2018

Rock Allegiance 2018 is here!

Danny Wimmer Presents has been putting on the biggest festival packages for years now, but 2018 has been one of the best festivals years ever! Wimmer also doesn’t buy into the fact that festivals are just for summer time either. One of my favorites is Rock Allegiance, a one day action packed festival taking place October 6th in Camden, NJ at The BB&T Pavilion right across the river from Philadelphia, PA.

The festival is sponsored by Monster Energy, Live Nation, Philadelphia radio station WMMR 93.3, and, of course, is presented by Danny Wimmer. Rock Allegiance features three stages; one housed at the main stage of BB&T, one in backlot of the amphitheater, and one at Wiggins Waterfront Park, which offers the beautiful Philadelphia skyline as the backdrop. This year’s line up is diverse and as exciting as ever!

The 2018 line-up features Avenged Sevenfold, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Skillet, Bullet For My Valentine, Beartooth, Insane Clown Posse, GWAR, Of Mice & Men, Fozzy, Bad Wolves, The Fever 333, From Ashes to New, Knocked Loose, Sylar, Bad Omens, Devour the Day, Blacktop Mojo and Stone Broken. Rock Allegiance literally offers fans a full day of music pretty much back to back, as well as great food and beer available all day throughout the festival grounds.

This year’s line up brings some intensely awesome veterans mixed in with some of today’s best up-and-coming acts. All of these bands have one thing in common: they all know how to deliver an incredible live show. With that said, there’s a few we are really looking forward to seeing live. check out out our top picks for the bands we think you absolutely can’t miss!

Must Sees

Blacktop Mojo

The five piece Southern rock band from Palestine, Texas has been making a name for themselves, pounding the pavement and bringing rock n’ roll to the masses, and heavily, over the past year. The band, which consists of singer Matt James, drummer Nathan Gillis, lead guitarist Ryan Keifer, bassist Matt Curtis, and guitarist Chuck Wepfer, have wowed audiences with their hard-driving blend of classic rock, metal, and post grunge. Their album Burn The Ships was released in March of 2017 via the band’s label Cuhmon Records and their single “Where The Wind Blows” reached number 27 on the Billboard mainstream rock chart. These guys are a can’t miss – you will be blown away by their sound, their energy, and their ability to captivate an audience.

Avenged Sevenfold

These guys are far from new-comers but have remained consistently great over the years. A7X headlining Rock Allegiance was a great move for all parties involved, and most importantly for fans. The band has been quite busy since the 2016 release of their album The Stage, the follow up to the band’s highly successful Hail To The King, and recently they’ve released a deluxe version that features live tracks as well as their version of the Pink Floyd classic “Wish You Were Here”. The guys have spent a ton of time on the road between opening for Metallica, headlining their own world tour, and recently making their rounds on the festival circuit. Avenged never disappoint live, and they’re sure to bring fans a ton of bang for their buck at this show.

Limp Bizkit

This is a fairly obvious must see. The recent return of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, and the boys in Limp Bizkit is both nostalgic and interesting. After years of silence, the band has played a few one off shows this year and from what it seems they haven’t lost their step. The band making their return to Philadelphia is a big reason to check out Rock Allegiance this year especially if you were a fan in the 90’s and early 2000’s, we are definitely looking forward to what their set and stage show is looking like in 2018.

Bad Wolves

One of the biggest bands of 2018 so far is without a doubt Bad Wolves, led by frontman Tommy Vext formerly of bands like Westfield Massacre, Divine Heresy, and Snot. Also in the band is veteran metal guitarist Doc Coyle, best known for his work in God Forbid. Bad Wolves has spent 2018 making waves with the hit cover of “Zombie” originally performed by The Cranberries. The band recently donated $250,000 in proceeds from the song to the family of Dolores O’ Riordan after her tragic passing. Their debut album Disobey was released in May 2018, and the band has been on the road varying between their headlining tour and tons of major festivals. These guys have been causing quite the stir in the rock world and I can’t wait to catch these guys live.

Papa Roach

One of the other big comeback bands this year have also been one of my personal favorites for the year. Jacoby Shaddix and company have been pounding the pavement on their own headlining tours as well as major festival appearances and hopping on the road with A Day To Remember. The band is out in support of their newest album Crooked Teeth. Their live performance has been better than ever, and I definitely won’t be missing their set. Expect a high energy and fast paced performance and prepare to sing along to songs you didn’t realize you loved so much.

The Fever 333

Once I heard the band was part of the 2018 lineup, I knew they would be most people’s must-sees, but also my reason to be in Philly during the month of October. One of the highest energy bands around, they’re known for their wild stage presence and are sure to cause chaos on this festival. In the past they’ve pulled the drum risers around, rolled around stages, and tried to rip down their banner from stage rafters, often times climbing high above the crowd. The 333 guys are one of the most exciting acts and you never know what will happen. Make sure you don’t miss these guys on stage at Rock Allegiance 2018.

Beyond the Music

Aside from music, Rock Allegiance also offers the opportunity to taste some amazing food and enjoy some great craft beers with your buds while listening to some of your favorite bands out there. Besides watching bands, you’ll also have the opportunity to cross paths with your favorite artists and attend special events at the F.Y.E. Music Experience. F.Y.E. gives the chance for you to take part in pop-up fan experiences such as meet & greets, acoustic performances, and Q&As. You never know what will happen in the F.Y.E. Fan Experience.

One of the coolest parts of the festival is Fxck Cancer (The Dyin’ To Live Dreams Program), The Dyin’ 2 Live Dreams Program is a wish-granting organization whose purpose is to try and enrich the lives of those fighting cancer by offering them an experience that will bring hope and inspiration to their lives. In doing this, we hope it can help give them a chance to forget, even if it’s only for a day, what they are battling. Through their network of friends, supporters, and affiliates, Fxck Cancer are able to reach out to individuals and present them with one of a kind experiences and opportunities. Dyin 2 Live Dreams can offer a source of inspiration for those undergoing difficult medical treatments and be a positive force that offers a life-changing impact not only on them, but also the family to overcome their obstacles. If you are currently fighting cancer or know of someone in the fight who could benefit from a Dyin 2 Live Dream, please submit your story and tell them why and how a Dyin 2 Live day would help. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a supporter, volunteer, or donor, please contact them at

Fueling the festival experience and keeping you hydrated is the Monster Energy Experience. The experience offers concert goers free Monster energy flavor samplings, artist signings, and other exclusive opportunities on available with Monster Energy at Rock Allegiance. Make sure to stop by the Monster Energy Experience and get energized.

Food is something we all need and LOVE, especially at an all day concert. The vendors at Rock Allegiance are some of the best around, Here are some of our favorite food vendors you can look forward to:

Baby Blues BBQ

Baby Blues BBQ offers Memphis-style long bone ribs, dry-rubbed baby backs, sliced Texas brisket, and some delicious pork slow cooked Carolina style in Guinness. All available with your choice of one of their several sauce recipes inspired by Western North Carolina, Louisiana. You can’t go wrong with some good tunes and BBQ.

Tony Luke’s Cheesesteak

Philadelphia is famous for their cheesesteak and quite possibly no one does it better than these guys. Tony Luke’s is not your typical Philadelphia cheesesteak joint; they’ve altered and redefined the Philly sandwich experience with specialty favorites like the roast pork Italian and chicken cutlet options. Their menu includes chicken cheesesteaks, seasoned french fries, hamburgers and more. So you know they offer something for everybody!

Nico’s Pizza & More

Had a long summer BBQing and your taste buds are looking for something different? Go Italian with Nico’s Pizza & More. They offer a taste of Italy serving up favorites like Calzones, Stromboli, Italian Wraps, and Stuffed Pizza!

If you’re like me and many other concert goers, one thing that might be more important than music and food is music and beer! No fear, Rock Allegiance has you covered, here is a list of some craft beers you should be quenching your thirst with this October.

Blue Point Brewing Company

The Blue Point Brewing Company began in 1998 with two friends motivated by the lack of fresh beer on Long Island and wanted to lower their bar tabs. So they built a brewery on Long Island’s South Shore in Patchogue, a tough and blue collar coastal town. Their Toasted Lager quickly became a beer New Yorkers could stand behind, taking home two World Beer Cup gold medals and earning a reputation as a beer you could enjoy every day. Be sure to come out and try these guy’s beer!

Brooklyn Brewery

Brooklyn, NY has changed quite a bit over the past few years and with that change has come great beer. This is one of them The Brooklyn Brewery is made up of a rich collection of characters from all over the world. In Williamsburg Brooklyn, these characters are dedicated to brewing and selling great beer and enriching the communities they serve. This is one of my go-to beers and I highly recommend it – it’s refreshing and made with love, duh!

DogFish Head

This company’s beer is as unique as their name. Ever since they started in the  summer of 1995, they’ve brewed, cooked, sold, and talked everything beer. Their goal to bring people together through their beer and scratch-made spirits, and they love to hit events just like Rock Allegiance to spread their passion and love for all things beer.
