New Year’s Live Stream Events
This time of year is usually filled with holiday parties and New Year’s Eve gatherings. I don’t have to tell you that this is not the case this year. Yes, we are finally about to turn the corner (hopefully) on the pandemic, but the amount of immunity attained through vaccination necessary to allow for mass gatherings again is a ways off. Fortunately, this does NOT mean that you necessarily have to have a QUIET New Years Eve, even if you have to spend it at home. Plenty of online streaming concerts and events are being held this year and can easily be streamed, cranked, and partied to, all in safety and at home.
Here’s an incomplete list:
KISS off 2020 with the perennially retired and unretired glam rockers with what is sure to keep you rocking and rolling all night.
Occupying the opposite side of the rock ‘n roll spectrum is The Avett Brothers and their unique brand of folk infused rock. Don’t let the “folk’ confuse you though…this will be loud.
Wanna party like it’s 1999 again? Then check out this stream from legends Widespread Panic from December 31st, 1999 and relive all the fun that only happens once in a century…literally.
Roots rocker Lucinda Williams continues her concert tribute series over the course of which she has dedicated entire shows to covering songs by fellow legends Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. On December 31st she is streaming her 6 show of the series which will be a tribute the The Rolling Stones. Lucinda Williams covering The Stones on New Years Eve? Take my money.
Opera houses and live theatre venues and groups have suffered in this year of no shows as much as popular music concert halls have. Why not get some culture and support an important art form that usually gets overlooked by the rock/pop/rap/R&B concert going crowd? Performances from Angel Blue, Pretty Yende, Javier Camarena, and Matthew Polenzani. If you don’t know who they are, click above and get started listening. You won’t be disappointed.
Bobby F. Givens, Jimmy Vaughn, Chris Layton, Sue Foley, and Mike Flanigin reunite at Antone’s in Austin TX for their annual New Year’s Eve show. This time though it will be in front of the biggest audience they might ever have even though they will be playing in front of an empty locale. Taking the show livestream this year Givens (ZZ Top) and company keep the tradition alive. This will rock. Make no mistake.
Streaming live on New Year’s Eve in conjunction with Blue Note New York, the world capital of jazz, phenomenal jazz pianist Hiromi will ring in the new year with her unique jazz piano stylings. You might think you’ve heard piano jazz…wait until you hear Hiromi.
Snoop Dogg. Free (but you gotta RSVP online). 21 and older. ‘Nuff said.
K-pop sensations BTS will be joined by a number of artists from their label Big Hit including Halsey and Steve Aoki.
