Getting Personal with Unearth Vocalist Trevor Phipps
Trevor Phipps talks about Warped, and The White Buffalo
There comes a time in everyone’s life where the phrase “All good things must come to an end” tings true. We never thought those words would ever apply to our favorite touring music festival Vans Warped Tour. Unfortunately it is with heavy hearts that we announce our last ever interview at Vans Warped Tour. However, it was definitely one to be excited about. Our last few minutes in the press trailer at PNC Music Pavilion were spent talking with Trevor Phipps, vocalist for metal band Unearth.
Formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1998, the group has a total of seven studio albums. Their latest album Extension(s) will be hitting stores later this fall on Century Media. The album was co-written by ex-The Acacia Strain guitarist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz and LGND, recorded by Fit For An Autopsy guitarist and producer Will Putney (Gojira, Every Time I Die), and the drums are being produced by Killswitch Engage‘s guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. In early July we received our first single “Incinerate” just weeks before the group made its stop with us on Vans Warped Tour.
While the heat and rain of the day made things a little difficult for the artists playing the tour, we were fortunate enough to catch up with vocalist Trevor Phipps in the back room of the press trailer.
I was delighted to talk to Phipps about his memories of Warped Tour, and even got a surprise when I asked him about a guilty pleasure we would find in his personal music library.
“It’s not a guilty pleasure per say, but I really enjoy the artist The White Buffalo,” Phipps commented.
Of course I immediately had to give him a high five at this joyous moment.
Our full interview is listed below so make sure to give it, as well as out other interview from the final Vans Warped Tour, a listen when you have the time, and keep an eye out for more Warped Tour photos kick-backs.
