Fresh Finds Friday
Fresh Finds Friday
by: Jessie Harris
As January winds down, the ever growing excitement for a new concert season is speeding up. Lots of tours have been announced this week and with the Grammys on Sunday, the music community is alive and buzzing. Here are some of my favorite new picks from the past two weeks. Happy weekend!
“Not The One” – Mikky Ekko
This club friendly hit will be the perfect soundtrack to all of your weekend adventures. An honest song about finding someone special to spend your nights with, knowing full well that it’s not going to last.
“Sick Boy” – The Chainsmokers
New jams from your favorite boys are here. The Chainsmokers effortlessly make you feel like you’re at one of their amazing shows with every single they ever drop. Written while on tour, this track highlights the struggles of fame. “How many likes is my life worth?”
“F*ck Your Money” – Elohim
Pretty self explanatory, but this catchy as hell song highlights that age old notion that money can’t buy love.
“Say Something” – Justin Timberlake ft. Chris Stapleton
“Dweeb” – Teenage Wrist
“The Middle” – Zedd ft. Maren Morris
I love country princess Maren Morris for so many reasons. Some of those reasons include her feminist mentality and her stereotype breaking presence in the country community, in general. Now she goes and teams up Zedd, making all my musically collaborative dreams come true. This fun tune will stay stuck in your head all weekend long.
“Ancient Names (Part 1)” – Lord Huron
Clocking in at a little over six minutes, this song is stunning, in true Lord Huron fashion. Upbeat, fun, and energetic, you’ll find it hard to not put this song about a witching woman on repeat.
“Amid Ethics” – At The Drive In
If I could describe this jam in one word, it would be fun. I love, love, love At The Drive In and have always admired their raw, yet calculated sound. In an eerie way, I’m captivated by their strange music.
“Dangerous Night” – Thirty Seconds To Mars
It’s been almost 5 years since we’ve been blessed by new music from these guys and this week, we got the exciting news that there would be new music in our near future. With this first single, it’s clear that not much has changed and that the band can still produce moving power anthems.
“Moonlight Dig” – The Dig
I love songs like this that sound tragically sad. They put me in a good mood, as strange as that sounds. Weird much? Fans of Arcade Fire and The Strokes will enjoy this New York band if they’re new to you.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I want to hear what’s on your playlists. Comment below with some of your favorites and I’ll catch ya again in two weeks!
