Exclusive: Goo Goo Doll’s Robby Takac talks everything Dizzy Up The Girl

20 Years of Dizzy Up The Girl

New York legends Goo Goo Dolls are once again back on the airwaves with some of our favorite songs from the past twenty years. Streaming services and radio stations are preparing audiences for the 20th anniversary of their most recognizable album, Dizzy Up The Girl, a thirteen-track rollercoaster of love, heartache, and everything in between. The album is thought to be the band’s most successful album, though they were gaining traction prior to 1998 with “Name” in 1995. Tracks like “Iris”, “Slide”, and “Sympathy” have branded Goo Goo Dolls as a band who found the formula to writing meaningful music in the industry.

Last May, the band dropped a five-sing EP called You Should Be Happy with four new songs and remixed version of “Boxes” from last year’s album of the same name. Alongside the EP, the band has decided to celebrate twenty years of DUTG by touring across the nation, playing the album in its entirety. Even better, the band will be performing sans an opener, so audiences are in for “An Evening With…” event to commemorate the last twenty years.

From recording memories to the events leading up to the tour, reporter Kris Englehart had a chat with founding member Robby Takac about everything Dizzy Up The Girl

See you at the Fillmore on Oct. 10th!
