Atreyu Release “Super Hero” Video
Track Features Appearances By Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows and Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie
The recent global pandemic has shown us that heroes come in all shapes and sizes from all walks of life as ordinary citizens step up to do extraordinary things. No longer are we cheering for our favorite sports team or giving our favorite musicians standing ovations. Instead, the world has come together to cheer on those at the frontlines of this battle showing our appreciation for our healthcare workers, first responders, truck drivers, and even grocery clerks, a recognition that is in my opinion long overdue.
Atreyu has shared the video for their song “Super Hero” from their 2018 In Our Wake album featuring appearances from Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows and Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie. The track was originally written about parenting, what it takes to be a superhero parent to your children but has taken on a new meaning amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
“Our song ‘Super Hero’ was written about what it’s like to be a parent and the vast amount of time, effort, energy, and hard work it takes to be a real-life superhero for your children,” the band says. “The song also has a broader meaning, especially given the current situation the entire world is dealing with. There are many superheroes out there who appear in many forms — namely the first responders, medical personnel, and health care workers who are putting others first as they work to fight COVID-19 and to save lives. We dedicate this song to them.”
The band is currently hard at work on their eighth album which is due out later this year via Spinefarm Records.
