Ana Popovic Is Living Her Dreams
Ana Popovic is an incredibly creative and versatile guitar player, singer, and songwriter. Her music covers several genres, including blues, jazz, and rock’n’roll. She performs with such a soulful sensuality that makes it difficult for the audience to take their eyes off of her.
She is now celebrating twenty-plus years as a touring musician, which was her dream years ago when she was working on her initial career in graphic design.
Ana has released twelve albums, and two DVDs, and has toured six times with the Experience Hendrix tour. Her technique, including slide guitar, attracts both guitarists and fans who appreciate being entertained by her excellent musicianship. Ana also tours frequently with her band, across the United States, and in Europe. We were fortunate to have her return to Shank Hall in Milwaukee.
Her Band
Her current touring band: Jerry Kelley (drums), Jeremy Thomas (keys), Bethel Burns (bass), Jordan Carr (horn), and Evan Knight (sax), are literally the best I have seen with her as each musician is not only a master of their instrument, they also compliment Ana’s performance and they show they are having fun by their smiles. Ana makes sure to give room to showcase each member during their show.
The Show
Her Milwaukee stop was at Shank Hall and this show was heavily attended by a combination of
long-time Ana fans and people who had never seen her perform before.
A couple who had never seen Ana perform before spoke to me at the end of the show. They explained how they felt so entertained and were so impressed by both Ana and her band, that they will make sure to never miss her when she routes to Milwaukee again. They went on to say while they knew Ana was talented, they did not expect the level of talent they experienced with her during this show.
Time for Autographs
Ana almost always takes time to meet with fans after her shows and this night was no different. She posed for photos with people and signed CDs, DVDs, and posters people purchased.
