106.5’s Not So Acoustic Christmas: Night Two

Charlotte’s premiere alternative rock station brought their annual Not So Acoustic Christmas tour to the Fillmore Tuesday and Wednesday night, featuring Bleachers and the X Ambassadors
Two years ago, X Ambassadors was the opening band for a concert by Lights at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC. On that night, the band had some communication issues, extended their songs into jams and mainly went unnoticed by the small crowd. What a difference two years makes.

On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, X Ambassadors headlined the second night of the 1065 The End Not So Acoustic Christmas. From the first notes of “Jungle” to the last sing along for “Torches,” the New York rock quartet proved they were a completely different band.

Singer Sam Harris was a ball of energy from the moment he hit the stage. He hit every note in his extensive singing range and never lost a step as he danced around the stage. While Bleachers might have taken the focus when the two nights of Not So Acoustic Christmas were announced, it was X Ambassadors who clearly stole the spotlight when the dust settled.

In comparison, Bleachers was a fun club show and X Ambassadors quickly proved they belong on an arena stage.
Opening the night was The Aces who showed maturity despite young age. That’s what happens when you’ve been together for a decade and start your band before high school.

The Utah pop-rockers had catchy tunes that won the crowd over in short order. Personally, I could have done without the Nirvana cover.

Every year, 1065 The End continues to outdo itself in efforts to collect toys for kids while bringing solid rock shows to the Charlotte masses. Don’t miss out next year!
